If the facial or jaw muscles are constantly tense, this also reflects constant internal tension.

Many different emotions appear unconsciously through tension in the various facial muscles that are important for facial expression.




The reverse is also true, however, that relaxed facial muscles generally contribute to relaxation of body and mind.
